Caroline has extensive experience in western medicine through her Physiology based degree and 9 years as a Clinical Physiologist at Jersey General Hospital. Her interest in eastern health techniques began with the ongoing study of tai chi and qigong 20 years ago.
In 1999 she travelled to America to study at the prestigious Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, California. The intensive Traditional Chinese Medicine training program included over 1000 hours of study in acupressure and associated oriental therapies. Caroline chose to specialise in the areas of stress management and the elderly. She established a local clientele and her experience extended into the community through voluntary work providing an acupressure service at local residential homes. She successfully completed the teacher training program and was formally invited to teach new students at the school.
Caroline successfully completed the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Advanced and Basic Acupuncture courses in Beijing, China during 2014 and 2013 respectively. This consisted in total of six months ( 3 months for each course) intensive training and examinations, with over 850 hours of theoretical and clinical training in a traditional chinese medical hospital. The China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center is internationally recognised by the World Health Organisation Collaborating Center of Traditional Medicine and by the United Nations Development Programs. The school comes under the leadership of the Chinese government, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS). Originally only doctors were able to apply. However, in recent years applicants demonstrating a strong medical background may be considered by the board for admission to the courses.
She has had a thriving practice in Jersey for over 14 years and continues to enhance her skills and knowledge through continual self study, professional development courses and personal activities. Caroline also teaches qigong and acupressure self-help classes at Highlands College.
